Visiting the Moonscape of Lake Abbe
Lake Abbe is an active thermal area and hot springs fracture the earth. The only practical way of visiting the area is with a driver and a guide in a 4WD.

Located in the Horn of Africa, the little country of Djibouti has some dubious neighbors: Ethiopia, Somalia, and Eritrea by land and Yemen and Saudi Arabia by sea. Djibouti City is the perfect place to convene for land excursions to Lake Assal or Lake Abbe or sea adventures to dive with whale sharks, deep dive, or snorkel.
You don’t have to blow your budget to explore Africa’s wild side. There are many camps and packages offered to get you the safari experience you want.
For our honeymoon, we headed to South Africa and had the time of our lives! We hit city spots as well as wine vineyards and saw the “Big 5” on safari. Here are a few photos from around Cape Town.
Osaka is truly a foodie city. In fact, it is called ‘Japan’s kitchen’ and the term kuidaore or “eat until you drop” is used to describe the food culture here. Here are the 7 street food dishes you must try in Osaka.
Strolling through Old Tbilisi’s cobblestone streets and admiring the city’s beautiful homes and colorful wooden verandas is wonderful. However, there is so much more to explore in Tbilisi than just the Old Town! One of the best things is that every spot mentioned in this post is totally walkable! Ryokan offer more than just a place to stay for the night – they are a truly unique experience and provide a glimpse into traditional Japanese lifestyle and culture. Our ryokan stays were the most memorable experiences of our trip (maybe even top five of all our travels!) and I highly recommend spending a night or two in one while you’re in Japan. Luckily, these traditional Japanese inns can be found all over the country. And while they can be more expensive than chain hotels, it is possible to find budget-friendly ryokan as well.
Queenstown, New Zealand is one of the most perfect small, touristy towns. You can’t help but catch that adventure vibe. While others might be jumping off bridges and skydiving, if you’re not as daring, I recommend the Luge at Skyline Queenstown.
Sarandë, Albania is located directly opposite the Greek island of Corfu and is the “capital of the Albanian Riviera.”
Scientists determined that pilot whales are a non-threatened species and the grindadráp is sustainable & humane. Why are animal rights groups still protesting in the Faroe Islands?
While Drew and I were in the Faroe Islands, we met Ólavur, a retired school teacher, who invited us to join him for a tour of some of Faroe’s fjords on his fishing boat. After about an hour on the water, he surprised us with a dinner on a 100-year-old sailboat with his best friends. Ólavur’s friend Dorias was a wonderful chef and plate after plate appeared with beautifully prepared carrots and potatoes, brown gravy, cranberry sauce, currant jam, and the main course—oven-roasted pilot whale steak stuffed with bacon.
After years of dreaming over other travelers’ adventures throughout the Faroe Islands, I finally got to experience this otherworldly archipelago myself! After a whirlwind couple of days in Copenhagen, we took the quick flight out to the Faroes. Here are the best bites we had while we hiked and explored the islands.
Here’s everything you should expect when traveling to O’ahu during COVID-19.

With its rugged coastline, plentiful outdoor activities, and — duh — lobster rolls — I think you’ll fall in love with Maine just like I have. If you’re planning a coastal Maine road trip, you’ll want to add these stops along Maine’s Route 1 to your itinerary.
If you’re visiting Yellowstone and want a hike that is less challenging or shorter — these 12 hikes are for you! Most of these hikes are on the shorter side, but a few are longer. In addition, the hikes I’ve included are all relatively flat, lead somewhere pretty, and have easy to follow trails.
