IT’S ALL WHAT YOU’RE USED TO
Pilot whales swim freely in open oceans every day and, because of this, their lives are spent in far better conditions than any cow, chicken, or pig we buy in a grocery store. Many of these farmed animals never see the light of day before they are killed en masse on a slaughterhouse floor.
I actually saw one comment on an image of the grind that said “Why do they have to kill animals? Why can’t they just buy their meat from the grocery store?”
From people who have never participated in or witnessed the slaughter of the animals they consume, these images obviously cause strong emotions. And while a bay stained red is stirring, so is that slaughterhouse floor.
How lucky are we to be so separated from our protein source?
How lucky are we to be able to sit back with our stocked fridges and our full bellies and judge what others eat?

Posted at 03:52h, 15 OctoberWhat a wonderful post about the Grindadrap. You highlighted the hypocrisy of the meat eaters that stuff their faces with cheap, mass produced meat, while vilifying the Faroese, for killing free range, organic Whales. I detest trophy hunting or killing animals for profit or sport. Greyhound racing should be banned. Fox hunts are disgusting and the vast majority of English people are against it. It is illegal to hunt foxes, but it is not strictly enforced. But I wholeheartedly, 100% support the Grindadrap. I have seen all the “barbaric” videos on YouTube and just cannot see anything wrong with it. Watching the community come together, to help feed the local population is gratifying. Infact, I am pleased, when I hear that a Grindadrap has taken place. I would happily stand on a Faroese beach and watch the Whales being slaughtered. I most definitely would help pull on a rope and drag a whale to shore. I think that Grindadrap is beautiful. I hope it continues for many more generations. Well done you for being a voice of reason. The Whale meat recipes were genius. Not only did they sound delicious, but you no doubt made a few crusty’s, very angry indeed! Fantastic! Kind regards, Paul.

Posted at 09:49h, 15 OctoberThank you so much for your kind words, Paul! It’s so frustrating when people are separated from their protein source. They don’t understand that something has to die in order for them to eat taco or buffalo wing. The grindadrap is something that I feel really passionately about so I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post. (I thought the whale recipes looked pretty good — and hopefully ruffled a few feathers as well!)
