What To Do in Queestown, New Zealand: The Luge at Skyline Queenstown

The Luge at Skyline Queenstown

Who doesn’t want to feel like a kid again?!

I may not be the bravest person, but I will try just about anything (don’t ask me about going into a dark scary room cause it ain’t gonna happen).

Queenstown, New Zealand is maybe one of the most perfect small, touristy towns. You can’t help but catch that adventure vibe.

While the more adventurous set visiting Queenstown will be jumping off bridges and skydiving, if you’re not as daring (or just want to feel like a kid again), I recommend the Luge at Skyline Queenstown.

I can say that I really didn’t think I would like it as much as I did (I LOVED IT!).

What to Know About The Luge at Skyline Queenstown

There are two tracks (slow and fast) so you can get your skills built up before you get run over. Each one is filled with tunnels, twists and turns, and my favorite – the dips! Once you’re down the mountain, get back on the gondola and do it all again!

Go ahead and get at least five runs. It might sound like a lot but the luge is sort of like Pringles – once you pop, you can’t stop!

  • Luge tickets are priced for individuals (adult and child) and families (for families of 4 or 5) passes.
  • Prices for individual adult tickets range from $49 (2 rides) to $56 (5 rides). You can pretty much take off $10 for kid tickets. The ticket prices include the gondola up to the top of the mountain and then the ski lift that takes you up and down for each luge ride.
  • The Luge is open every day at 10am and closes at various times depending on the season.
  • At the top, you’ll find restaurants and gift stores as well as spectacular, not-to-be-missed views of Queenstown.
  • For the more adventurous, you can bike down an insane mountain biking trail, try out an exhilarating paragliding flight, or jump off The Ledge bungy and swing.
