Things To Do In Las Vegas: Take A Trapeze Class
Have you ever seen a Cirque show and thought, “Psh. I could do that!” Umm, yeah, I haven’t either. But I’ve always wanted to know what it felt like to fly through the air like the aerial performers in Las Vegas’ shows.
If you’re like me and maybe gambling all day just isn’t your thing, you can take a quick Uber ride to Trapeze Las Vegas where you’ll (safely) channel your inner Cirque performer in no time!
And do you really want to leave Las Vegas with the same stories as all of your friends?
Oh, did you gamble all night? Yeah, so did they. Did you go see some hip new DJ at some overly-priced, ridiculously loud club? Yeah, so did they. Did you eat at some celebrity chef’s restaurant? Yep, same. But…but…how about some world-class Vegas show? Check, check, check.
Get out of the typical Vegas scene and impress your friends and family by doing something a little different on your trip. Because at this point, we all know that what happens in Las Vegas doesn’t stay there, right?!
So, get ready, chalk up those sweaty palms, grab the bar, and go for it. And have the time of your life!
Trapeze Las Vegas
I’ve been on this private mission over the last few years where I try to say “‘yes” to experiencing things that feel outside my comfort zone.
In the past, I know that I’ve missed out on things because of insecurity and fear. These doubts run so deep that sometimes I don’t even know they’re there.
I think that I don’t want to do something but, when the moment for adventure has passed, I regret not doing it.
Does this new-found sense of adventure mean that I’ll be doing the CN Tower’s EdgeWalk in Toronto? F no. I have to be realistic. But I have dominated some ski lifts and some aerial trams.
Since 2018 I’ve:
- Hiked the top of the Sydney Bridge.
- Swam in a glacial lake in New Zealand in my underwear.
- Traveled to Djibouti.
- Soared down a luge in Queenstown.
- Taken a trapeze class in Las Vegas!
Proof!
On to the trapeze stuff…
Each session starts with the basics.
You and a bunch of other newbies will learn how to hang by your knees, release your hands, and (hopefully) attempt a release and catch with a professional!
You don’t need to be athletic or strong or have any experience doing this. Heck, there was a lady in my class who had a terrible back and just wanted to swing on the bar. They were totally cool with that.
I feel like they knew who to push. They could see that I’m a chicken, but that I wanted to do that release/catch thing, so bad so they pushed me harder. If you’re not into it, that’s fine.
The hardest thing for me was climbing up that stupid circus ladder and then reaching out to get the bar in the very beginning of each turn. Everything after that was a piece of cake. If you’re not short, reaching for the bar won’t be an issue at all!
Classes are held Monday-Thursday and cost $65.
I’m really proud of myself for doing this (and thankful that my cousin wanted to do it and invited me)! I hope that if you’re in Las Vegas you’ll give this a shot. Send me pictures if you do!
What should I wear to take a trapeze class?
- T-shirt and tights or leggings are perfect.
- Don’t wear anything too baggy (it’ll be in your way), and nothing that you can’t move freely in (definitely no jeans).
- Shorts can be uncomfortable because your skin can become irritated when you hang from the bar.
- Tie your hair back if it’s long.
- Wear socks!
- Shoes must be removed before flying on the trapeze.
